Okay one more photo from my getaway… Here is a pic of a grizzly bear, who is ~ 2years old, that we saw on our way home from dinner. As the story goes - he’s a twin and his mother died last summer after being hit by a train in Banff National Park. It was a surprise that the twins survived the winter, but apparently they went into hibernation and successfully re-emerged this spring.
Needless to say, when we ran or hiked our senses were heightened as the grizzlies are very hungry this time of year!!
Running is a metaphor for life …
I went to Lake Louise, Alberta with my husband to celebrate our 25 wedding anniversary … sounds ancient I know, and because I don’t want to appear even older, I will confess that I got married at 19 … we were just kids and kids are a little crazy - everyone needs a little crazy I think. We have had an amazing life and I would not change anything about our last 25 years!
We spent the week hiking, running, relaxing, eating amazing meals and just generally celebrating life!
We began running together after 10 years of marriage and at 15 years we ran the Vancouver Marathon together … the only marathon that that we have run entirely together - it was my best, not easiest. We have enjoyed countless runs together and it is often during our runs that we discuss life.
Running is a metaphor for life - it takes dedication, commitment, endurance … passion. Running not only takes heart but it makes your heart grow stronger!
(This picture was taken at Moraine Lake, just a little ways from Lake Louise, shortly after receiving a gift in a little blue box with a lovely white satin ribbon….)
Happy Anniversary to my wonderful, amazing and loving husband!
I had an amazing stay at the Chateau Lake Louise, Alberta. Perfect for running, hiking, and just enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The Plain of Six Glaciers hike to the tea house had the best chocolate cake I have ever tasted … and that’s saying a lot! The view was not bad either… Must warn the snow was a pretty deep at parts!
